It's so oppressively produced (with treble overload) and such a homage to Beach Boys via a demented Phil Spector that I'd have sworn it was by cult genius Lewis Taylor (it's so Lewis, it's untrue).
Suffice to say I love it even if (or perhaps because) it's close to unlistenable (not least on headphones).
I'm a somewhat discerning Foy Vance fan. Do I like everything he does? No. Do I like much of the things Foy likes. Absolutely not. But when he gets it right (which is often enough) he's untouchable. The best thing working in the industry today and five hundred leagues above wot someone (he is unfairly compared to, just cos he shares the same speaking accent) that overblown, overrated Van Morrison geez.
